Working with audio

Levels and fades

Select an audio clip (or the video of a linked pair) and use Effect Controls ▸ Audio: Volume (100% is original, up to 300%), Fade In and Fade Out. Volume can be keyframed for rises and dips.

Track controls

Use M (mute) and S (solo) on audio track headers. See Tracks.

Meters

The meters on the right of the timeline show the left and right levels in dBFS while playing. Keep peaks below 0 — the top turns red when the signal is close to clipping.

Waveforms

Audio clips show their waveform so you can find words and beats. Very long files (over 30 minutes or 400 MB) skip waveform analysis.

Shortcuts show the Mac keys: on Windows and Linux use Ctrl for ⌘ and Alt for ⌥.
