The Program monitor

The Program monitor shows the timeline's output at the playhead — exactly what will be exported.

Transport

• Play/pause, step one frame back or forward, jump to the previous/next edit, and go to the start or end.
• Click the timecode on the left to type a time (for example 00:01:15:00 or 75 for 75 seconds) and press Enter.
• The timecode on the right is the sequence duration.

Working in the picture

• Click a clip to select it; drag to move it; drag a corner handle to scale. It snaps to the centre and frame edges — hold Shift to move freely.
• Double-click a title to edit its text.
• With the Type, Rectangle, Ellipse or Pen tool, click or drag here to create titles, shapes and masks.
• Drop an effect from the Effects panel onto the picture to apply it to the clip under the pointer.

View options

• Fit / 25% / 50% / 75% / 100%: monitor zoom.
• Safe: shows title-safe and action-safe guides.
• Multi-Camera: shows every camera angle of a multicam clip. See Multi-camera editing.

Shortcuts show the Mac keys: on Windows and Linux use Ctrl for ⌘ and Alt for ⌥.
