Your first edit in 5 minutes

1. Import: press ⌘I (or drag files from a folder on your computer onto the Project panel).
2. Add to the timeline: drag a clip from the Project panel onto track V1. The sequence frame size automatically matches this first video (for example 9:16 for phone video).
3. Play: press Space. Use J K L to shuttle back, stop and forward.
4. Cut out a part: move the playhead to where the unwanted part starts, press ⌘K to split, move to its end, press ⌘K again, click the middle piece and press ⇧Delete to remove it and close the gap.
5. Add a title: press T, click in the Program monitor and type. Click outside the text when done.
6. Add a transition: open Effects, drag Cross Dissolve onto the start of a clip. It previews automatically.
7. Export: press ⌘M, choose a preset and location, and click Export.

That's a complete edit. Save the project with ⌘S to keep working on it later.
