The workspace

The window is divided into four resizable panels. Drag the thin gaps between panels to resize them; Reelsmith remembers the layout.

Top left: Effect Controls, Lumetri Scopes, Source

• Effect Controls shows the properties of the selected clip: motion, opacity, masks, color, speed, audio and text. See Effect Controls and keyframes.
• Lumetri Scopes shows waveform, parade, vectorscope and histogram of the program picture. See Lumetri Scopes.
• Source previews a single media file so you can mark the part you want. See The Source monitor.

Top right: Program monitor

The output of the timeline at the playhead. Play, step, type a timecode, and move or resize clips directly in the picture. See The Program monitor.

Bottom left: Project and Effects

• Project lists your media and sequences. See The Project panel.
• Effects lists effects and transitions to drag onto clips. See Effects vs. transitions.

Bottom right: Timeline

Tracks, clips, the playhead, the Tools strip on the left, the zoom scroll bar at the bottom and audio meters on the right. See Timeline basics.

Top bar and status bar

The top bar has the project name, Undo/Redo, Sequence Settings, Help, Save and Export. The status bar shows the frame size, frame rate, clip count and whether everything is saved.

Shortcuts show the Mac keys: on Windows and Linux use Ctrl for ⌘ and Alt for ⌥.
