Crop, Transform, Drop Shadow and other video effects

Find these in Effects ▸ Video Effects. Drag one onto a clip (or select the clip and press Apply); its controls appear in Effect Controls and a chip appears at the top so you can remove it.

• Crop: trims Left, Top, Right and Bottom (in %). The cropped area becomes transparent, so the track below shows through. Crop values can be keyframed.
• Transform (Skew): slants the picture with Skew X and Skew Y.
• Drop Shadow: color, opacity, distance, direction and softness. Great on titles, shapes and keyed footage.
• Horizontal Flip / Vertical Flip: mirrors the picture.
• Sharpen: increases edge detail (Amount).
• Mosaic: pixelates the clip — combine it with a mask and tracking to hide a face or a licence plate.

Shortcuts show the Mac keys: on Windows and Linux use Ctrl for ⌘ and Alt for ⌥.
